Watford transfer ban lifted

FIFA lifted a temporary transfer ban on Watford. Last July 20, the Championship imposed an international transfer ban on this club by FIFA.

Watford spent over their transfer limit on Samuel Kalu from Bordeaux in January 2022. Nigeria’s Megamu Football Academy came under the spotlight when it complained about the matter.

Kalu has spent time at this academy at various times. The academy demanded that they be paid a huge sum of money for the transfer fee, but they did not receive it. That’s why they reported the matter to FIFA.

The Football Association (FA) was obliged to enforce restrictions on Watford’s registration of new players as part of the ban. However, Watford was quick to act on these restrictions.

The club informed that there was a misunderstanding about the matter. According to the report, Megamu Football Academy will receive less money compared to what they have already been given. And this is the settlement of the dispute.

FIFA confirmed in an official statement that all parties had responded satisfactorily. And that’s why there is no obstacle to lifting all kinds of restrictions.

The announcement brought relief to the Watford camp. They will now be able to implement their plans in the transfer market as the upcoming season approaches. Talented winger Kalou has made 13 appearances since joining Watford.
