78th anniv of Victory in Great Patriotic War marked in Dhaka

An enormous program was held in Dhaka to mark the 78th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War with the support of the Association of Russian Compatriots in Bangladesh “RODINA” (Motherland) and the Russian House in Dhaka.
After the memorial action, “St. George’s Ribbon” participants moved through Dhaka’s Mirpur road to New market in the way of a large auto rally of over 50 cars and motorcycles bearing black-orange St. George ribbons and symbolizing “Immortal Regiment”. Replicas of Flags of Victory in 1945 and the Soviet Union were also here.
H.E. Alexander V. Mantytskiy, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to Bangladesh, greeted the attendees and emphasized the importance of preserving the memory of the feat of our forebears and the decisive role of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR) in the victory over Nazism.
Members of the Soviet Alumni Association Bangladesh (SAAB) and CIS-Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce, students of Stamford University, Russian Embassy staff, and lots of Bangladeshi actively participated in this event widely covered by local media. Everyone lit the Candle of Memory.
The festivities ended with the great reception given at the Russian diplomatic mission, read a media release on this occasion.
