Bangladesh Teachers Association (BTA) has called for a strike demanding the nationalization of secondary educational institutions.
BTA President Principal Bazlur Rahman Mia made this announcement from a rally organized in front of the National Press Club on Monday (March 20).
Bazlur Rahman Mia said, if no provision is made for nationalization in this year’s budget, we will start a strike from June 11. We will not return home without fulfilling our demands.
The teachers said that the government has been given a lot of time to nationalize educational institutions.
“We also tried to meet Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni many times, but she did not give them time. So, we are now on the streets with a demand to nationalize secondary education for improving the country’s education.”
The teachers urged the Education Minister to accept the demand for the nationalization of secondary education from the rally. They also requested her to resign if she could not implement the demand.
