Talks between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Chinese President Xi Jinping would be a ‘good thing,’ said the White House.
But the US has warned Beijing against taking a ‘one-sided’ approach to the conflict, read an AFP report.
Asked about a report published in the Wall Street Journal, US National Security Council spokesperson John Kirby said, ‘We think it would be a very good thing for the two of them to talk.’
This is the first time Zelensky is going to talk to Xi.
Kirby said, ‘We support this dialogue and communication.’
But he cautioned against Chinese pressure for a ceasefire in Ukraine, saying it would only support Russian aggression.
