Dhallywood actress Mahiya Mahi has been sent to Bangladesh’s Gazipur District Jail after her arrest under Digital Security Act (DSA) case.
Gazipur Metropolitan Police (GMP) Commissioner Molla Nazrul Islam said to the reporters that Mahi was brought to court on Saturday (March 18). The court ordered to send Mahi to jail.
‘The judge has not spoken to me even once,’ Mahi told reporters while being taken from the court to jail. ‘He (the judge) didn’t say a word. He just sat on the chair and got up. How can the court be over in a second?’
Earlier on Saturday morning, Mahi was arrested by members of the intelligence department of the GMP after landing at the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka from Saudi Arabia.
Her husband Rakib Sarkar was supposed to return home on the same flight but he did not return.
Mahi and her husband Rakib Sarkar accused the police of ‘attempting to take possession of the land by taking a bribe’ on Facebook live last Friday (March 17) morning.
On the charge of spreading defamatory information through social media, Rokon Mia, sub-inspector of Bason Police Station of Gazipur, filed a case under DSA against them.
