COVID-19: US sends 1cr more vaccines

The United States (US) has sent another one crore Pfizer doses of the COVID-19 vaccine to Bangladesh through COVAX.

These doses of the COVID-19 vaccines will further accelerate the ongoing vaccination program in Bangladesh. 

More than two-thirds of the international COVID-19 vaccines gifted to Bangladesh so far have come from the US.

The US is closely assisting Bangladesh in providing all kinds of COVID-19 assistance. Over 51,000 health workers have been trained as part of this assistance.

Additionally, the US has provided 18 freezer vans, 750 freezer units, 8,000 vaccine carriers, and 57 million doses of vaccine to remote areas to accelerate the COVID-19 immunization program in 64 districts of Bangladesh.

The US has emerged as the largest donor country in the world for providing COVID-19 vaccines under COVAX.
